Hot August Nights is kicking off at the end of this week, with a calendar chocked full of classic car events through August 6. Just like in years’ past, dozens of vintage wheels will be out in the streets of Reno and Sparks, bringing back sweet nostalgia of simpler times.

HAN events begin in Virginia City starting this Friday, July 28 with a car participant check-in, show-n-shine, classic car cruise, and live music by Lady and the Tramps and DJs Steve West and Rich West. The festivities continue through Saturday with celebrity judges and show-n-shine awards.

However, the official HAN kick-off party will be held at Baldini’s Casino in Sparks on Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m. featuring a concert with Brian Andrews as Elvis accompanied by the Jeff Leep Band. Tickets to see them are $29 in advance and the show will be held on the second floor of the casino.

The following week holds a multitude of more events all throughout Northern Nevada, with emporiums, parties, car shows, and classic rock bands at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Grand Sierra Resort, Bonanza Casino, and Atlantis Casino Resort.

In Sparks, Baldini’s will be offering a classic breakfast buffet for $24.95 during Hot August Nights and giving away free commemorative lunchboxes while supplies last.

On August 1, there will be a show-n-shine going on all day (from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) in Victorian Square along with first responder and emergency vehicles on display. There will also be a craft fair, live entertainment, a car cruise, and more.

The following day, the Nugget Casino Resort will be hosting an ultimate classic car competition featuring Chrysler/Mopar products and other brands. It will also have an Oldies Emporium available. A show-in-shine will also be taking place in the nearby Victorian Square. Jim Shoe & The Sneakers will be performing that evening and The Garage at the Nugget will be open with unlimited beverages and preferred concert seating.

The Nugget’s famed drag races will also be going on in its west parking lot on August 2 from 6 p.m. to midnight. It costs $15 to get in and The Burnout Bar will also be available for ticketholders.

On August 3, Summit Racing Equipment will be accepting registrations for the HAN Poker Run between 8-11 a.m.. Stops include Atlantis, National Automobile Museum, Minden Park, the Chocolate Nugget, Virginia City, Grampy’s, and Champion Chevrolet. That same day, the Women With Wheelz Show-in-Shine will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nugget’s east side parking lot in downtown Sparks. There will also be a controlled cruise from 7 to 10 p.m.
